Cleaning your mattress – How to extract stains and odors

 


When you know where to start, mattress cleaning should not be a difficult activity. Here's an easy guide on how to scrub your mattress and extract stains and smells.

1.         Strip your bed

To get started, remove all your bedding from the mattress and place it in the washing machine.

2.         Clean the mattress

Vacuum the whole mattress from the top, the bottom and the sides. Make sure that any portion of the mattress that is exposed to dirt is vacuumed properly.

3.          Sprinkle baking soda with baking soda
Baking powder is one of the best products to use to clean a mattress. For an effective clean:

·        Mix one cup of baking soda with a couple of lavender oil drops.

·        In a strainer, pour the mixture and shake well.

·        Pour the mixture over the mattress uniformly.

·        Leave a few minutes of the mixture on the bed.

·        Vacuum off the mattress with the baking soda and let it dry.

 

How to clean stains of urine and sweat from a mattress

Stress, don't. You should purify any yellowish sweat or urine stains you see on your mattress. For efficient cleaning:

·        Mix the baking soda with hydrogen peroxide and apply a few drops of dishwashing soap.

·        Using this well-dissolved mixture on your mattress and soak it.

·        Use the mixture to cover every stained portion of the mattress.

·        Let the mattress dry and blow-dry for a minimum of an hour.

 

How to clean stains of blood from a mattress

Hydrogen peroxide works well on bloodstains as well. Spray and blot the mattress with a clean towel. To speed up the process, repeat this step until the stain is gone and then let the mattress air dry or use a blow dryer.

 

How to clear the stains of vomit from a mattress

A white vinegar and water solution can help remove stains from the vomit. To treat the mattress, use the mixture and then wipe up the dirt using a clean towel. Sprinkle over the area you have washed with baking soda. Give it an hour and vacuum the remaining solution of baking soda away and let your mattress dry.
