Realistically, instead of a really cheap one that needs to be replaced after a year or two, you want a carpet to last at least 15 years. Inside your budget, buy the highest product. Choose one that looks nice and feels soft to walk on and a carpet with a long warranty, ideally. As long as the carpet is kept clean on a regular basis and any spills mopped up immediately, a good grade carpet can last for several years.
